I would love to write about the place which is attached to my life. It is a place where I have spent my whole childhood and which is very close to my heart. It had not much importance to me until I left it 4 years back. It’s about my hometown – Junagadh.
There are some great facts about Junagadh which I would like to share with everyone. Maybe some of you would be aware about it.
Junagadh is an ancient city situated in Gujarat which has 2200 years of history. There are some very interesting places which attracts the tourists from all over the globe.
Girnar: - Mount Girnar which is situated 6 kms from Junagadh is more than 600 meters high hill. It has beautiful Jain temples which are very ancient and there are also Hindu temples. Every year lacs of people come to climb the mountain. I am able to climb it twice. It is also believed to be older than the Himalayas.

Uperkot: - It is an interesting fort located in the middle of the city which was built in 319 BC. Almost every part of the city can be seen from it. It is one of my favourite places. I have visited it numerous times.

Gir Forest: - It is situated 65 kms from Junagadh. The Sasan Gir sanctuary provides the rare species of Asiatic-Lions. The sanctuary covers 500 sq. miles of dry open area where lions roam freely. I am fortunate enough to see some of them roam freely. It is a pleasure to watch them and it is just amazing how you go there to watch them in their home which is the forest.

Somnath: - The Somnath Temple is situated 90 kms from Junagadh. Somnath is considered one of the 12 most sacred temples of India. The temple was looted several times by Muslim rulers owing to its legendary wealth. It is a very serene place to be which is situated on the coast of the sea.

Swami Vivekananda Vinay Mandir: - It is not a very famous place. It is my school where I did my Higher Secondary. It is famous because one of the country's biggest personalities Dhirubhai Ambani studied here. I feel really proud about that fact.
Lastly, I want to say about Kesar Mangoes which grows in Junagadh and is very famous. This was something about my city which I wanted to share. It is a must visit place. I hope the information will be liked by everyone.
